This post isn’t the longest or most in depth, but I thought I would share a few photos of Garrett Grayson’s Pro Day. Even though Grayson is not a big name compared to Florida State’s Jameis Winston and Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, he can be considered a “sleeper” quarterback in the 2015 NFL Draft. Since he did not participate in the NFL Combine, scouts from several NFL teams came to CSU to watch Grayson work out and complete some of the combine drills.
Since I shot most of CSU’s home games this season, I had the chance to see Grayson play all season. However, I never had the opportunity to evaluate him as a quarterback because I can’t see the whole play and his ability when I am watching the game through a telephoto lens. What I’ve wondered most about Grayson is what has made the biggest contribution to his success? Is it the Mountain West competition, the talent on CSU’s team, the play calling by the coaching staff, or is it Grayson’s own talent. Even though I am not a sports reporter or a football coach, I thought Garrett seemed solid during his workout. Most of his throws hit receiver, Charles Lovett, between the numbers, his cross field passes had a bit of zip, and his deep ball was spot on. However, the scouts seemed to concerned about some of the numbers he put up in the combine events (or gym shorts olympics as I say).
Overall, I think Grayson does have some talent, he made a good case for himself at the Pro Day, and his draft stock is likely to rise.
